General Meeting #2

Living in Community

Here's what you missed!

I hope you’re having a wonderful week! Thank you for visiting my blog today! We are so excited to get the ball rolling with John 15! At this weeks meeting Deacon John Joseph shared with us some of the keys to living in community. Deacon John Joseph is kind of an expert on community because he is a newly professed deacon in the Community of Jesus Crucified! (It’s right in the name!) He shared with us that the keys to living in community are poverty, chastity, and obedience. Poverty, as in our openness to dependence on God and in turn, depending on each other. Chastity, meaning asking God to protect us in mind and body in friendship in order to more fully serve each other. Finally, he explained that obedience means relying on God to be the guide in our friendships. He noted that all these things work together to set us apart from other social circles. Today’s world will try to distract us from growing in community and growing in virtue because Satan knows there is strength in numbers! All this being said, the most essential part to living in community is believing and remaining. Believing in the goodness of the Lord and remaining in that goodness. Until next time!

Ponder this... Consider this week how growing in community can help you growin virtue. (It might be helpful to consider looking at community through the example of the trinity and the holy family.)
