The mosaic for the floor of our new baptismal font has been completed! Our design team at McCrery Architects in Washington, D.C. selected the ancient christian symbol of the Chi Rho for the mosaic. The mosaic was brought to life by Matteo Randi, a renowned mosaicist with who works with Rugo Stone in Virginia. Check out the progress images below:

The new baptismal font will allow for full immersion baptisms as has been our tradition at the Easter Vigil Mass. Unlike our old font, it will include a special drainage system to carry the holy water into the earth. Holy water, being sacred, does not get drained into the municipal system. In the past, volunteers had to manually care for the holy water to return it to the earth.

A wooden sculptural dove representing the Holy Spirit will be installed above the baptismal font.
